Review in Ploughshares "Reading A Literary Field Guide to Southern Appalachia," a critical essay by Alicia Wright, is available from Ploughshares. Finalist for the Thomas Wolfe Memorial Literary Award A Literary Field Guide to Southern Appalachia was among 6 finalists for the award. Watch the ceremony here. Chapbook available A micro-chapbook of Rose's poems, In the Gem Mine Capital of the World, is available from Bully City Press. Essays published Rose's lyric essay "Weights and Measures" was published by Shenandoah, "Blue Prints" appeared in Blackbird, and, most recently, she wrote "Lay of the Land" for Orion. Recognition for best Appalachian writing awarded Forage received the Weatherford Award for Appalachian Writing, which recognizes one book of poetry, fiction, and non-fiction each year. Anthology featured A feature on A Literary Field Guide to Southern Appalachia has been published by Southern Humanities Review. Read the poems and prose and see the artwork here. There are also tips for teaching with the book and using it to prompt your own creative writing. Poem nominated Rose thanks the Southern Review for nominating her poem, "Blackberries," for a 2019 Pushcart Prize and Birmingham Poetry Review for nominating "Many Kinds Make the Crowd." Poem on exhibit Jubilation Inflation, an exhibition of artist Tamar Ettun’s interactive audio work, mixed media sculptures, experimental videos, and inflatable environments (which takes its name from and includes one of Rose's poems) is in Manhattan at the Pace University Gallery (41 Park Row, New York, NY) starting in October 2019. |
